
Why are two pieces of wood stronger when bound together?
Sep 22, 2020 · The answer learned in class is that the two 2*4s are able to distribute the load over both of them, but I don't think this is an actual answer because that's balanced by the fact that each block is half the area. Does anyone know of the reason for this observation? Thanks!

We left the end holding the counterweight full width, but tapered it about 1.5 cm past the axle on the side with the projectile. Barely even took a tap to move that arm. - Wheels make your trebuchet shoot farther, provided it actually moves.

Jan 11, 2010 · i.e. you allow the components of the 4x1 matrix and the 1x4 matrix to be 4-vectors instead of numbers. But some people would just find this confusing, so it's probably better to avoid it, and use the first version of the formula instead (with indices).
