Jun 15, 2022 · So my Dell XPS 8950 was delivered. I took some pictures of the 1000w PSU installed. It's the RD0G0 1000W Delta unit, 80 PLUS - Platinum. The good news is the +12V rails are high current, the bad news is there seem to be only 2 Video/PCIe cables each with a 6-Pin and piggy-back 8-Pin PCIe connector.

I called the order modification number to switch to this new 1000w psu but as my order entered 'pre production' last night, they are unable to change mine out. I could cancel and reorder with the new psu but that would push delivery out an extra month or more.

But if you want to buy the 1000w psu, no harm. there is no danger of having a 1000w psu inside. your components just would not draw much power from it. It would run light duty. a 1000 w psu means it can provide maximum up to 1000w but does not mean it will do so constantly.
