The 20KW generator has an output breaker rated 100 amps so I figure I will use 100 amp cable. I plan to use 100 amp SER as I need the fourth conductor. So my question is what size SER aluminum do I need?

May 12, 2021 · As an example I could be feeding a 100 amp sub-panel from a 200 amp main panel, have a 100 amp non-SE ATS and a 12kW generator. The 100 amp breaker in the main panel protects the sub-panel and ATS when in "normal" and the 60 amp breaker in the generator protects the feeder when the ATS switches and is in "stand-by power". Connect Ground and Neutral to the Neutral Buss. For wires larger than #4 purchase a Collar Strap. Most companies call it a Collar Strap, Square D may call it a Neutral Lug.
