I brought him the new tank,he took off the old one.We put it in the cradle(its heavy,lays horizontal) Bent down to grab the empty,as he connected the valve/hose. "something" happened,had liquid propane run down from his fingers to elbow..instant freeze burn.

Once everything is connected tightly, you flip over the 20 lb. tank to allow the liquid propane to flow into the 1 lb. tank. It takes about a minute, maybe less. You have to be careful not to overfill the 1 lb. tanks though.

This method is far more accurate then you think, and can read to 0.01” with a good stand and magnifying glass, even to 0.001” with a micrometer and lab grade setup.

Can blow up your house. 1 lb bottles can be refilled from 20 lb outside, not as dangerous if a leak occurs. I use the one lb bottles on my little heater, lasts a couple, three hours on low.

Jan 10, 2021 · Get the 5' propane hose with a female end and cut the BBQ tank fitting off at 1'. Attach the 4' hose to the copper pipe with a hose barb and hose clamps. Put the hose connector in the BBQ tank section, later you can join the two hose section back together and use a BBQ tank to run your heater. You should learn to refill your 1# propane cans.

Nov 14, 2007 · I posted about this in "Refilling 1 lb Cylinders" topic which is probably a page back now. 1 lb tanks are not that effective when used with a Buddy Heater or Big Buddy Heater. They'll work great for the first half tank or so, but after that, the 1 lb tank doesn't have the ability to provide the pressure required to run the heater efficiently.
