Jan 5, 2015 · About a year ago I bought a savage 93r 17 from the local Walmart. It is the pre 'accu-trigger' model. Only paid $200.00 for it. Was having really bad problems with accuracy and examined scope, scope mounts, etc. Even tried a different scope which I know is perfect. Then I noticed that about half of all my .17 hmr necks are split.

Jun 1, 2004 · The problem with any of the rimfire cartridges like the 22 MAG or the 17 HMR is the ammo costs. Something like the 204 Ruger can be reloaded greatly reducing the cost to fire it. But a new cartridge, also by Hornady-17HM2 is based on the 22 LR Hyper Velocity rimfire cases and is touted as being priced for ammo between 22LR and 22 MAG.
