In February, Bishop McManus celebrated the 25th anniversary of his ordination as a bishop which started as an auxillary in Providence, Rhode Island and in May, he commemorated his 20th anniversary as bishop of the Diocese of Worcester.

BLACKSTONE – Catholics who struggled through a merger found special reason to rejoice, when Bishop McManus blessed sanctuary renovations at their church – renovations which bring together elements of all three former parishes.

Several pastors in the diocese are to change parishes this summer, and some other priests are getting new assignments. Bishop McManus did not announce any retirements, but two pastors are becoming senior priests. All changes are effective July 1.

Msgr. Francis D. Kelly said he’d start his priesthood all over again if he could. “The important thing to remember is that it’s serving the people,” he said, “but it’s serving them in the name of, and with the love of, the Lord Jesus."
