On July 7, 1965, forty-eight years after its completion, Governor Knowles holds the Capitol's dedication ceremony. The Capitol rotunda is renovated, including the cleaning of the inner dome's mural and the interior walls. This is accomplished by using an expanded telescope scaffold.

Constructed from 1906 to 1917, the facility contains 531,315 GSF of space. It was designed with four equal wings of five (5) stories and a central rotunda and dome reaching to 284.4 feet high.
