License and ID document requirements - State of Michigan
Documents listed on the Identification Requirements form are the types of documents applicants applying for a driver's license or state ID must present to prove their identity. Documents presented as proof of identity are subject to approval by Department of State personnel.

Title transfer and vehicle registration - State of Michigan
You must provide proof of a valid Michigan No-Fault insurance policy to register your vehicle in Michigan. If purchasing a new plate or transferring and renewing an existing plate, the buyer must upload Michigan No-Fault during the online title transfer.
License or ID renewal - State of Michigan
Michigan's new driver's licenses and IDs with higher security features are now in circulation. Residents will receive the new license or ID design if applying for their first card or when renewing/replacing their current card.
Department of State information - State of Michigan
The Bureau of Customer Service (BCS) operates all Secretary of State Branch Offices across the state. Among other responsibilities, BCS provides driver’s licensing, vehicle titling and registration, and voter registration services.
First-time license or ID - State of Michigan
Gather all required documents. Photocopies won’t be accepted and all documents must be in English or include an English translation. Pre-apply for your license or ID online. Submit your license or ID application before your office visit. Go to Online Services; Visit a Secretary of State office. Present all required documents and take a photo.
New drivers (18 and older) - State of Michigan
If you are 18 or older, want to become a licensed Michigan driver, and have not been licensed in Michigan or any other state in the previous four years, you must pass a written driver knowledge test and apply for a Temporary Instruction Permit (TIP) at a Secretary of State office.
Titles - State of Michigan
If you need to replace your Michigan vehicle title, apply for a duplicate title through your online Secretary of State account. Duplicate titles cost $15. If you have a lien on your vehicle, the title will be sent to your lienholder.
Tab and plate renewal - State of Michigan
To update the address on your vehicle registration, add a mailing address, or order a license plate, create or log in to your online Secretary of State account to renew at the same time. Go to Online Services. Renewal fee calculator
