The Custody Bureau consists of several divisions: Classification, Consent Decrees, Custody Administrative Services, Custody Support Services, Elmwood Correctional Men's and Women's Facilities, Jail Reforms, Main Jail Facility, Professional Standards and Compliance, and Restorative Services.

The complex is approximately one block west of North First Street and one block east of Highway 87, in downtown San Jose. If you’re planning to visit an inmate at either the Main Jail or the Elmwood Correctional Facility in Santa Clara County, here’s what you need to know:

The Santa Clara County Main Jail Complex – under the command of the Santa Clara County Department of Corrections in Downtown San Jose – consists of two jail facilities: 1) the Main Jail South and 2) the Main Jail North. The Santa Clara Main Jail houses arrestees until if/when they bail out or are given O.R. release.
