Individuals seeking admission to a certificate program who do not have a diploma issued by a regionally and/or state accredited high school or GED may enroll in some career technical courses utilizing the Ability to Benefit criteria.

At J.F. Ingram State Technical College, students have the opportunity to choose from 19 diverse career technical (CTE) programs. These programs range from Auto Body Repair to Welding, offering a comprehensive education tailored to various industries.

J. F. Ingram State Technical College employees are part of a unique organization: ISTC is the only college in the nation dedicated to serving incarcerated students exclusively.

Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) is a short-term non-credit program combining classroom theory, state-of-the-art driving simulators and hands-on learning behind the wheel. Students can earn a Class “A” or Class “B” Alabama Commercial Driver License with endorsements.

The J. F. Ingram State Technical College Foundation is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting ISTC students and graduates. Each year the Foundation provides ISTC graduates preparing to enter the workforce with tools and equipment, as well as funds to offset the costs of licensure and certification.
