Aug 13, 2018 · WMM was turned on. So, I turned off WMM and walah! The lag spikes are gone. Speed tests are the same, maybe slightly faster. What I don't understand is while doing research I also read that turning off WMM bascially turns your wi-fi into "g" mode meaning (54 Mbps). I am definetly NOT getting "g" speeds with WMM off. Speed tests were still 350-400.

Apr 24, 2024 · Since WMM is basically prioritizing video/audio over other traffic, and with a 2,5G pipe, should I turn off WMM? The other reason, I thought I have seen that with WMM off, WiFi performance improves - which is logical if audio/video is being prioritized higher.

Well yeah wired connections are going to be faster than wireless, nobody can change that. You're saying the wireless connection is a lot slower. How far away from the router are you testing? Do you get a lot better speeds wirelessly right in front of the router?
