Echo trout vs tfo blue ribbon in 4wt anyone? | The North American …
Sep 7, 2021 · One rod is not going to do everything well, but, as jayr said, the 9' 5wt is the "standard" outfit. However, having fished numerous times in the Smokies, a 4wt rod shines in many situations and would likely work well for you. Both TFO and Echo make fine rods for the money, so it would mainly be a matter of personal preference.
My Initial Thoughts on the New TFO Blue Ribbon
Oct 26, 2020 · In fact, TFO basically told me it was like a cross between their Finesse series and the Pro II which is exactly how it feels just holding it in my living room. According to TFO as well as other shops I've talked to who have casted the rod, the Blue Ribbon appears to be designed to be a good all-around trout and bass rod which is perfect for my ...
Disappointed in the New TFO Solution Rod
Jul 30, 2024 · I recently purchased a TFO Solution in a 9' 5wt and thought I would share with you all my thoughts on the rod, particularly since there aren't many reviews out there yet. I ordered my TFO 590 Solution directly from TFO right after it came out. At the time I had a TFO Blue Ribbon in a 486, a TFO LK Legacy in a 691, and a TFO Axiom II-X in an 890.

TFO vs. Echo - Washington Fly Fishing Forum
Jan 5, 2009 · Both rod companies provide excellent value in their products. TFO offers more options at more price points. I think Tim Rajeff is an awesome guy and a great rod designer, but of the two companies, my sense is TFO probably is the more likely to weather economic storms (think warranty) . . . The TFO Finesse and the Pro are very different animals.

Jun 10, 2017 · II, I talked with Brandon Powers of TFO several times about a durable streamer rod, and he suggested the Mangrove. If I remember correctly, he said the Mangrove was his favorite in their line up, especially the 7 weight, and he said his personally rod collection is almost all Mangrove's to cover bluegill, trout, bass, carp, and saltwater.
tfo signature rods | The North American Fly Fishing Forum
Dec 12, 2009 · The ferrules were the tightest. There weren't any inconsistencies in the cork based on feel and looks. The TFO looked like it had a chunk that could come off anytime. The thread wraps were the cleanest. The Ross casted the best out of the three. It was a true medium-fast action rod. The TFO felt a bit quicker than that. The Crosswater felt ...
TFO Fly Rod Company History | The North American Fly Fishing …
Feb 21, 2015 · Since Rick's company, Temple Fork Outfitters, was known in Dallas, they decided to use the TFO name for the fly rods. Ken and Rick continued to co-own TFO until Rick bought Ken out. Even now Ken's company Springbrook continues to be the importer of TFO into Canada. I suspect Ken's friendship with Lefty led to his part as fly rod designer for TFO.
TFO Pro Special Fly Rod | The North American Fly Fishing Forum ...
Jun 28, 2014 · You would want to be comfortable with a medium action rod before buying it. If possible, I would cast one first. I think you will find it is a better rod than the TFO Pro Special. Taking the next step onto more of a medium fast rod, the TFO Pro II would also be a really good choice. It has a little more backbone than the Redington and costs ...
