The Boeing CH-47 Chinook is a tandem-rotor helicopter originally developed by American rotorcraft company Vertol and now manufactured by Boeing Defense, Space & Security. The Chinook is a heavy-lift helicopter that is among the heaviest lifting Western helicopters.

Powered by two Honeywell T55-GA-714A turboshaft engines, the CH-47 Chinook can reach speeds of up to 170 knots (315 km/h) and has a maximum operational range of approximately 400 nautical miles. It can operate at altitudes of up to 20,000 feet, which is critical for missions in mountainous regions.
