BASF wanted a large facility in order to move the HQ of Knoll Pharmaceutical - then in separate building in E. Hanover, into the new building along with BASF HQ. Then a few years later BASF sold all its Pharma business to Abbot and so half the Mt Olive was emptied and BASF then decided to move back to its old HQ.

The state and most likely the federal government offers tax breaks and other benefits for building a new energy efficient building . Why do you think that huge office building that BASF built 30 years ago was not wanted and eventually demolished ? It wasn't practical to heat and cool let alone pay the huge property taxes .

I've seen the notice about a 9 month closure of Waterloo Rd. Can someone please tell me exactly where this bridge is? I sometimes cut through the office complexes off 46-Mt. Olive and end up on Willow Grove near the H-town hospital. I think that road off of International drive is Continental Drive (passing old BASF), it's not on that street right?

I worked for Lucent Technologies and BASF which were in the a Trade Zone. I thought they would try to attract new businesses to the area meaning more jobs. What in the hell is Mt. Olive doing? We don’t need more congestion and adding to already over crowded schools.

I see. I hadn't heard of that area. I grew up in Stanhope and rode extensively from the mid-70s through the mid 80s. All over the area that is now the former BASF property as well as the ITC property. I never really ventured all the way down that end of Waterloo road. I wish I knew, as I always enjoyed a new place to ride!

The old BASF building was way too big for Mars and would cost too much to renovate. The plant in Kansas that was opened was created to increase capacity, not take away from any other site. They are still putting more lines in there, as Mars cannot keep up with the demand now.

That's why I mentioned the old BASF property in Mt. Olive Twp. Two hotels right there and fairly direct access from Rt. 80 from the east or west without involving the Rt 46 and Rt 206 traffic patterns as much. It's a large building that could be repurposed and could work out well for concert venues with a casino there too.

Think about the basf building in mt olive 15 mins away that campus has sat vacant since the day they left let’s not have another giant campus empty. We already have the giant compac building Etc Drew

Deroche Canvas exists on 519, so do multiple quarries and recycling facilities, steel fabrication exists right on Foul Rift Rd next to a solar feed. All fairly passive use and contributing jobs and product to the area. BASF ships NOTHING CLOSE out of their facility than the projections made by Jaindl's outfit for logistics center warehouses.
