Babbar Khalsa, officially Babbar Khalsa International (BKI, Punjabi: ਬੱਬਰ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ, [bəbːəɾ xɑlsɑ]), is a Khalistani militant organisation that aims to create an independent nation-state of Khalistan in the Punjab region.

Sukhdev Singh Babbar was the president of the Babbar Khalsa International. It was considered as the best armed and funded among the Khalistani militant groups in Punjab State [ 13 ] with an objective to create an independent state for Sikhs, known as Khalistan . [ 7 ]

Babbar Khalsa is a sectarian group. It targeted the Nirankari sect as well as its sympathizers. BKI was involved in killing of Baba Gurbachan Singh, the head of Nirankari Sect on April 24, 1980.

Available evidence suggests that the Babbar Khalsa is part of a terrorist network sponsored by Germany-based terrorist groups as well as Pakistan’s external intelligence agency—the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI)—to revive terrorism in the Indian Punjab.
