As Illinoisans return to the office after the holiday season, their Monday blues might be further magnified by lake-effect snow on the tail end of a major, disruptive snowstorm that slammed the central United States and by below-normal temperatures later in the week.

The first winter storm of 2025 came with heavy snowfall, resulting in multiple snow emergencies, closures and weather advisories in southwest Ohio.

The wintry blast, which the Weather Channel has dubbed "winter storm Cora," will likely be felt in the southern U.S. from Texas to the Carolinas.
