Temperatures will slowly rise toward climate-normal levels this week. But another strong arctic cold front will blast through on Saturday.

Another surge of arctic air and freezing temperatures will arrive on Monday into Tuesday. The Houston area is projected to see temperatures as low as 26 degrees late Monday and 24 degrees on Tuesday,

This week in Houston, we’re tracking slightly warmer temperatures, but thanks to another round of arctic air - it won’t last long. Right now, we’re tracking another blast of arctic air headed our way on Saturday that will dramatically drop our highs from the upper 60s to a high in the upper 40s overnight.

Long-range models indicate the chance of another arctic blast early next week, which could bring the coldest air so far this season.

The Houston area is seeing an increasing chance that a mix of wintry precipitation—including snow—is headed in its direction. Space City Weather meteorologist Eric Berger said there is a growing possibility (about a 50-50 chance) of snow or sleet beginning next Monday night and Tuesday.

Scattered mainly light rain showers Wednesday with the best chance south of I-10 near the coast. Thursday will be partly sunny and mainly dry with a 10% rain chance. For next week, long-range models indicate the chance of another arctic blast early next week which could bring the coldest air so far this season!

As a slug of arctic air overtakes the eastern two-thirds of the U.S. next week, a storm system could bring snow, sleet and freezing rain to places deep in the heart of Texas, but the forecast isn’t a lock just yet.
