Science fiction films always seem to have a tough hill to climb to gain notoriety when it comes to making the final cut once Oscar season rolls around, let alone taking home any of those coveted golden statuettes.

Dune: Part Two star Josh Brolin chided the Academy for not nominating director Denis Villeneuve for his acclaimed work on the blockbuster sci-fi sequel. Brolin took to his Instagram stories to point out that “it makes no sense” that Villeneuve was snubbed for best director given the film racking up five nominations — including best picture.
