Perplexity’s Deep Research tool is similar to ChatGPT and Google Gemini. However, it is available to free users with a limited number of answers each day. “Excited to introduce the Perplexity Deep Research Agent: available for free to all users,” wrote CEO Aravind Srinivas on his LinkedIn profile while announcing the latest development.

Although Deep Research lags behind ChatGPT Deep Research in the Humanity's Last Exam accuracy rankings, Perplexity claims that its latest AI tool outperforms rivals like Gemini Thinking, o3-Mini, Grok 2 and Claude 3.5 Sonnet on the same benchmark.

At launch, Perplexity’s Deep Research tool will be free for all logged-in web users. It will roll out to iOS, Android, and Mac. However, only Perplexity Pro subscribers will get unlimited queries. Others will have to contend with a limited number of answers per day, Perplexity said.
