Girls from across Western New York competed Friday to advance to the state girls wrestling championships Feb. 27 at MVP Arena in Albany.

After going 10-0 during the regular season, Depew’s torrid play continued at the section tournament at AMF Airport Lanes on Thursday. The Wildcats won the event with 6,418 pins over six games.

Three additional qualifiers were added to Section 1's inaugural girls wrestling team at the New York State tournament.
