SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif. — Macy's is closing 66 stores nationwide, including two in San Diego County and nine in California. Among the "underproductive" stores to be shuttered are the Macy's locations at 1555 Camino De La Reina in Mission Valley and the Chula Vista location at 2015 Birch Road at the Otay Ranch Town Center.

The smoke has yet to settle in Southern California, where thousands are reeling from the devastating impacts of a series of ongoing fires in the Los Angeles area.

The Macy’s store at Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista is on the list, along with the Macy’s Home store in Mission Valley. The other California closures include stores in Westminster, Los Angeles, Newark, Sacramento and San Mateo. Other states with multiple stores being shuttered include Florida, New York, Texas and Washington.
