Luuk de Jong scored a brace of goals as 10-man PSV Eindhoven put in a commanding first-half display but were then forced to hold on for victory in a 3-2 Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade at a freezing Stadion Rajko Mitic on Tuesday.

PSV Eindhoven held off a second-half fightback from Red Star Belgrade to gain a vital Champions League win. The Dutch side stormed into a 3-0 lead after only 43 minutes following goals from Luuk de Jong, Guus Til and Ryan Flamengo as they looked to be cruising to victory.

PSV took a giant step towards the knock-out stages of the Champions League after hanging on for the points in a match that turned on Ryan Flamingo’s red card. The defender ended up making headlines for the right reasons after his flashing volley from a corner just before half-time proved the difference between the two sides.
