Cotiviti nears $3 billion deal to acquire Edifecs, rejecting higher bid from UnitedHealth. Antitrust concerns cited.

Cotiviti, a healthcare data company backed by KKR, is reportedly on the brink of finalizing a deal to acquire its smaller competitor, Edifecs, for a sum slightly above $3 billion.

Last week, larger rival Blackstone also beat quarterly profit expectations, driven by a pickup in dealmaking. KKR's assets under management jumped 15% to $638 billion in the reported quarter, with the company hauling $27 billion of new capital and deploying $23 billion in investments.
