The copy of the U.S. Constitution, one of only a handful known to exist, was found two years ago at a former plantation in Edenton, North Carolina.

The minimum bid for the auction is $1 million. There is no minimum price that must be reached. This copy was printed after the Constitutional Convention approved the proposed framework of the nation's government in 1787 and it was ratified by the Congress of the ineffective first American government under the Articles of Confederation.

The rare document, signed by Philadelphian Charles Thomson, is one of only eight known surviving signed ratification copies of the U.S. Constitution sent to the 13 original states.

Brunk Auctions, a North Carolina-based auction house, is facilitating the sale of the document, which was found in 2022.  It is only one of eight known surviving signed ratification copies of the document,

Another copy of the U.S. Constitution is headed to the auction block. Brunk Auctions of Asheville, N.C., will put the recently discovered document up for bids on Sept. 28, starting at $1 million with expectations to go significantly higher.
