Contractors plan to open the newly-constructed Waynesboro Truck Route to traffic on Friday, Feb. 21, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Contractors on Friday will open a newly constructed Waynesboro truck route after a ribbon-cutting event at the project’s western endpoint.

The last time we checked in with the engineering department, they told us to expect the project to be finished in 2026. But they did say the project is 75% to 80% complete.

Some states are expecting up to 12 inches, with snowfall rates as high as 2 inches at times, making travel "very difficult." ...
