A 66-year-old Westfield man is dead after falling into a sand silo at Chicopee Concrete Service on Friday morning.

GREENFIELD — A Westfield man was killed Friday morning after authorities said they believe he fell into a silo at a concrete mixing plant. He was 66.

According to the Northwestern District Attorney, the man, a 66-year-old resident of Westfield, had fallen into a silo in a work site off of Cleveland Street.

A workplace accident in Western Massachusetts has likely claimed the life of a 66-year-old Westfield man, authorities say. The Northwestern District Attorney's Office said at 5 p.m. that crews had recovered the body after hours of work at the Cleveland Street worksite in Greenfield.
