The fantasy football world is seeing a change in the running back position. The 2017 NFL Draft class produced several elite fantasy football running backs. Christian McCaffrey, Alvin Kamara, and Joe Mixon have been three of the top fantasy running backs since their rookie seasons.

As the Philadelphia Eagles marched their way to a Super Bowl title behind one of the best rushing attacks in the NFL, a narrative began to emerge: The running back was back.

The 2024 NFL season was the year of the running back and nobody played better than Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles. His 2,000-yard campaign helped the Eagles capture the Super Bowl, but Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson outperformed Barkley in one area.
