The Lady Vols opened Friday’s play at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a 10-1 victory over Rutgers, but fell to UCLA a few hours later.

Rutgers ended the regular season with a 75-70 win over Penn State. Adams logged 19 points and 14 rebounds to go with seven assists. She became the first player in the Big Ten to reach these marks in the same game this season and the first Scarlet Knight in 15 years.

BOTTOM LINE: No. 18 Purdue plays Rutgers after Trey Kaufman-Renn scored 29 points in Purdue's 76-66 win against the UCLA Bruins. The Boilermakers are 13-2 in home games. Purdue is ninth in the Big Ten scoring 77.4 points while shooting 49.3% from the field.

The No. 5 Lady Vols (12-3) have now lost twice at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, while the No. 4 Bruins (12-1) won their first game in Cathedral City. Tennessee led by three runs entering the fifth inning, but UCLA scored four to take the lead and eventually win.

Mardjetko got the nod in the circle for Tennessee softball and allowed a leadoff single to Bailey Briggs. After the runner advanced to second on a wild pitch and moved to third on a bunt, Briggs scored on a sacrifice fly to put Rutgers ahead.
