Depending on where you look, February’s retail results are a confusing mixed bag – up 0.2% on a seasonally-adjusted basis from January or down year-over-year unadjusted.

Canadian retail sales fell by 0.6% in January from December at C$69.36 billion ($48.42 billion), as lower sales at motor vehicle and parts dealers were not offset by higher sales at gasoline and fuel vendors,

US retail sales rose by less than forecast in February and the prior month was revised lower, adding to concerns of a pullback in consumer spending.
