Limited, a global technology giant, has announced a definitive agreement to purchase Infinidat Ltd, a leading provider of high-end enterprise storage solutions. This acquisition is a part of Lenovo's growth strategy to bring unique technology solutions to the market and further enhance its enterprise storage offerings globally.

Lenovo has been building an enterprise storage business since its acquisition of IBM’s storage business, but has not had the success its rivals have enjoyed.

Chinese tech giant Lenovo's first major Israeli acquisition targets profitable storage company Infinidat, marking its entry into Israel's tech ecosystem with plans for a local R&D center.

Founded in 2011, Infinidat specializes in data storage, data protection, business continuity, and sovereign cloud storage solutions. Headquartered in Herzliya, Israel, and Waltham, Massachusetts, the company has raised $370 million in funding to date, with its last raise taking place in 2020.

Lenovo is a major supplier of entry-level and midrange storage arrays. According to the company, the acquisition of Infinidat will grow its presence in the high-end data center storage segment. Additionally, Lenovo expects the startup’s software research and development capabilities to augment its in-house engineering programs.

Infinidat was founded by Moshe Yanai in 2011. Yanai is a well-known figure in the data storage industry, having previously co-founded EMC.
