Authorities in Fond du Lac say the suspect involved in a stabbing on March 22 was in the United States illegally and has officially been convicted of attempted homicide after pleading no contest. According to a release from Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney,

Mendoza, 50, has been convicted of the March domestic violence stabbing in Fond du Lac County. Lopez-Mendoza pleaded no contest Nov. 13 to attempted first degree intentional homicide, with dangerous weapon and domestic abuse enhancers,

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Fermin Teodoro Lopez-Mendoza, the man charged in connection to a domestic violence stabbing in Fond du Lac, pleaded no contest to charges of attempted first degree intentional homicide, with a dangerous weapon, and domestic abuse on Nov. 11.

FOND DU LAC – The former Big Lots, 616 W. Johnson St., is already seeing some new activity. Big Lots announced its impending closure in July, part of the company's plan to close 35-40 stores this year as a result of inflation and other macroeconomic challenges. The Fond du Lac store closed in October.

Dogs were rescued from deplorable conditions in a Fond du Lac County home and are now in the care of the Eastshore Humane Association.
