Officers responded shortly before 4 a.m. to reports of an assault in progress at a home in the 1000 block of Springwood Drive.

A county commissioner in Denton County, Texas, is in the hospital and her husband is dead after a stabbing attack by the victims' grandson, local police said Monday. Police in Lewisville — a suburban city north of Dallas — said officers responded to a home just before 4 a.

Bobbie J. Mitchell, who has been a Denton County commissioner since 2000, is also the first Black mayor of Lewisville.
