Sati Sulochana is based on the character Sulochana from the Ramayana. She is the wife of Indrajit and the daughter-in-law of Ravana, the demon-king in Ramayana.

This iconic film was a vision of collaboration. Suggested by the legendary R Nagendra Rao, Sati Sulochana was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, a Rajasthan native, and directed by YV Rao.
