Melania Trump has recognized eight women with the 2025 International Women of Courage Award. At a ceremony on Tuesday at the State Department, the first lady said the “exceptional assembly of brave women” show love by refusing to be defined by fear or hardship.

Since 2007, the State Department has recognized more than 200 women for "promoting peace and prosperity and human rights" countries across the world.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio and first lady Melania Trump on Tuesday honored eight women from around the world, including one held hostage by Hamas, who have "demonstrated exceptional courage, strength and leadership.
