KELSO, Wash. (KATU) — Authorities are searching for Dean R. Kirby, a 62-year-old man reported missing on March 28, 2025.

Kelso police seek public help to find Dean Kirby, a 62-year-old with dementia, last seen driving a gray Mazda CX-5.

A man died after being shot in Kelso early Friday morning, the Kelso Police Department reports. Kelso officers were sent to the 1200 block of South 6th Ave shortly before 2 a.m. on a shooting report.

Police did not say whether the man found is Dean Kirby, who was reported missing about a week ago. Search and rescue found the man about a mile from Kirby's car.

The victim's father reportedly discovered the abuse in 2023 when looking through his child's cell phone, and reported it to the Kelso Police Department. The victim told authorities the pair ...
