A documentary film directed by journalist Shiori Ito has yet to be shown in Japan, even though “Black Box Diaries,” as the work is titled, has earned high acclaim at film festivals overseas.

Ito filed a civil suit in 2017 alleging that Noriyuki Yamaguchi, 56, who had worked at Tokyo Broadcasting System Television Inc. as a reporter, sexually assaulted her in 2015.
