Creative director Sabato De Sarno stayed the course, showing more Ancora red leather, sporty tailoring, lingerie looks, horsebit accessories and nods to famous Gucci customer of yore Jacqueline Kennedy.

The vacation vibes could be felt in the sun hats, oversized sunglasses, and jet-set Gucci Flora headscarves, while evening-ready drama was delivered via twinkling Gatsby dresses and coats that sported glittering fringe (and came with coordinating bags).

And while the reset, following seven years of maximalism at the Kering-owned label, came as a shock to many, de Sarno has stuck to his guns: yes, fashion is for expressing oneself, but dressing up doesn’t have to be so far removed from reality.
