Group 1 elements become more reactive as we move down the group. These atoms are larger because they have more shells. The larger the atom, the further the outer electron is from the nucleus.

The elements in group 1 are known as alkali metals ... They exist as diatomic molecules - they have two atoms in each molecule. As you go down the group the halogens become less reactive.
