Lynchburg Deputy City Treasurer Brian Witt has filed the forms and petitions and has qualified to be listed on the November ballot as an independent candidate to succeed Bailey as treasurer.

Kyler Whitt, the man charged with the murder of his mother, appeared in Clinton County Municipal Court on Tuesday for a scheduled preliminary hearing.
