While other states have statewide cellphone bans in schools, New York will be only the fourth state to have a "bell to bell" ban.

New York state Gov. Kathy Hochul recently announced a $254 million state budget has been reached, including a statewide plan to ban cell phones in schools. Earlier this year, the governor announced a proposal to make classrooms distraction-free by instituting a bell-to-bell ban on cellphones during the school day.
