Charlotte Guernsey, owner of Gate House Realty, has been observing the Brooklyn-to-Beacon trend over the years. Gate House says it places at least one Brooklyn couple per month in Beacon.

Guernsey's Lieutenant-Governor Richard J Cripwell will light the beacon at 21:15 BST on 6 June in a private ceremony for islanders involved in organising the annual Liberation Day celebrations.

The States of Guernsey is marking VE Day by illuminating landmark buildings as well as a ceremonial beacon. VE Day marks the end of World War Two in Europe after Germany's surrender on 8 May 1945.
