Firefighters say winds between 20 and 30 mph were blowing through the area as they attempted to quell the flames burning in the Santa Clara Riverbed.

The Auto Fire has burned nearly 61 acres in Ventura, California Monday night and was at 47% containment Tuesday afternoon.

A new wildfire broke out in Ventura County late Monday night as thousands of firefighters in California continued their work to extinguish other deadly blazes that have scorched thousands of acres of land in the Los Angeles area since last week.

On Tuesday at 1:16 p.m. the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA issued a red flag warning in effect until Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Although the National Weather Service downgraded the severity of its forecast on Tuesday, forecasters expect higher wind gusts on Wednesday that could lead to “explosive fire growth.”

Southern California residents are expecting fire conditions to flare up again this week, but residents of who areas in particular should remain on guard, according to the National Weather Service. The NWS announced that there are particularly dangerous situations expected in the 5 Freeway corridor in northern Los Angeles County and
