Jail records indicate Powell was arrested Friday by DPS troopers and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a charge of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, a second-degree felony that carries a punishment of two to 20 years in prison.

There, a motorcycle speeding south down Nellis Boulevard and a crossover SUV making a U-turn crashed, police said. The motorcyclist died on the scene. Detectives are investigating the crash. Police were not yet able to determine which party was at fault.
