According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Jaquez Myrick, 25, was found in possession of a handgun with a machine gun conversion device.

A federal investigator said in a affidavit Tuesday that a man charged in connection with the fatal mass shooting at Tuskegee University on Saturday told him that he fired his gun but denied aiming at anyone.

A county coroner says the man killed in a homecoming weekend shooting at Tuskegee University has been identified as 18-year-old La'Tavion Johnson.

Authorities said Montgomery resident Jaquez Myrick, 25, was seen leaving the scene of the shooting. Myrick was allegedly found in possession of a handgun with a machine gun conversion device and was arrested Sunday on a federal charge of possession of a machine gun, an Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman said.

Officials reported that 25-year-old Jaquez Myrick was arrested and federally charged with possessing a machine gun. An 18-year-old non-student was tragically killed in the shooting.
