Julie Mishler, Wawasee: Mishler broke the state meet's 100 free record twice: on Friday in the prelims (47.88) and Saturday in the final (47.86). She won the 100 free and 50 free, significantly ahead of the competition, and also swam on Wawasee's fourth-place 200 freestyle relay and eighth-place 200 medley relay.

Hadley Laughlin put herself in some rare air Saturday at the IHSAA girls state swimming championships in Indianapolis. The Bloomington South diver was one of only three freshmen to qualify and one of two to get all the way to the finals during the afternoon swimming session,
