Australia claimed a decisive victory over India in the fifth Test in Sydney on Sunday to seal a 3-1 Border-Gavaskar series triumph and earn themselves a spot alongside South Africa at the ICC World Test Championship Final 2025 at Lord’s in June.

India were knocked out of the WTC final race as Australia secured their berth in the final against South Africa by clinching the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by a 3-1 margin in Sydney on Sunday.

Besides defeating India 3-1 to pocket the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia also sealed a berth in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s in June, later this year.

Australia defeated India in the Sydney Test by six wickets to book their place in their second successive World Test Championship final. The Aussies are looking to defend their WTC title. Australia have shattered a world record of India in ICC tournaments.

South Africa and Australia will contest the third World Test Championship final after the latter defeated India in Sydney to claim a 3-1 series win in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The match will be played at Lord's from June 11 to 15.
