SAN MATEO COUNTY – A 39-year-old San Jose man and an 8-year-old boy died Sunday after rescuers pulled them from the ocean near Half Moon Bay, according to authorities.

A man and an 8-year-old boy have died following a water rescue off the San Mateo County coast over the weekend, officials said.

The victims who drowned in the ocean in Half Moon Bay over the weekend were identified by officials on Tuesday.

A boy who died after he was swept into the ocean during a powerful winter swell was identified by officials on Tuesday as 8-year-old Vihaan Mukund. Lifeguards found the boy and a second victim in the water on Sunday afternoon and rushed them to a hospital where they later died,

A 39-year-old man and an 8-year-old boy have died after they were initially rescued in the waters off Cowell Ranch State Beach.

Rescue crews have retrieved a child and an adult from the ocean in Half Moon Bay Sunday afternoon, officials said.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a suspect Friday in Half Moon Bay who allegedly stalked a woman, according to a press release. The 50-year-old woman, a resident of Half Moon Bay, had received packages, pieces of clothing, letters and messages from the suspect as he attempted to contact her, authorities said.
