Democrat Cleo Fields has won a Louisiana congressional race in a recently redrawn second majority-Black district. That flips a once reliably Republican seat blue.

Cleo Fields' victory in Louisiana's newly drawn district marks a significant win for Democrats, flipping a Republican seat blue for the first time in a decade.

State Sen. Cleo Fields is expected to win Louisiana's 6th Congressional District race. At midnight Wednesday, Fields had 51% of the vote against fellow Democrat Quinten Anderson and former Opelousas Sen. Elbert Guillory with all precincts reporting, according to the Secretary of State's website. AP has yet to call the race.

His win marks a major victory for Democrats in a state where they will hold two congressional seats for the first time in a decade.
