You've got a lot of good answers and advice here, but I'll add my voice. I absolutely feel a 5-year-old would be able to handle this trail with adult supervision. My parents took us hiking all over the place at that age. Kids love ladders, and the deep trenches of the trails will be something fun for him. There are some edges, but the trail is wide enough for you to be able to supervise. BTW, if you hike the trail the "opposite" way (counter-clockwise), you'll be going UP the long ladder and down the smaller one. But, the first time you hike this trail, I do recommend walking the "correct" way (follow the signs). Enjoy!
Hello, I am going to Bandelier on Thursday. Online it said you can drive in if you arrive before 9 AM. I want to be there at 7 to avoid the crowd.
