I wholeheartedly recommend every traveler visiting Vietnam to prioritize a visit to the My Lai Massacre Museum. The unfathomable events that unfolded on March 16, 1968 should never be consigned to me… Full review by BandGinAsia

Very humbling experience. It's hard to imagine how awful it must of been for the poor people of My Lai back on that day in 1968. So so sad.. Full review by Deadmeadow
I plan to visit right around the 50th Anniversary Friday 3/16/18 or Wednesday of next week. I am staying in Hoi An. Are there tours from the Hotels in Hoi An? Should I plan on taking the whole day to visit the Son Mai/My Lai museum? Are there residents that can talk to us about how they've coped with the horrors and how they see Americans like me?

Hi there. I hired a private driver from Hoi An. I’m sure there are people you can talk to, as for me I went alone and didn’t ask re people who were there. I find the Vietnamese very approachable and helpful. Just be respectful and remember where you are. It’s a beautiful place. Hope you enjoy your trip. I’m from London and plan to remember the event on Friday evening. It’s very emotional.
In March 2018, I will visit the Son My Memorial & Museum (My Lai Massare Museum) and hope to observe and participate in events commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the 1968 Massacre. I plan to spend 4-5 days in Quang Ngai as a base. I would like any advice about a schedule of the memorial events in the area, about local or international groups organizing the events, about guides or interpreters (English), and about other local tourist information resources?

I want to visit the My Lai Memorial on March 9, 2017. I am planning to arrive in Quang Ngai on the northbound train at about 11:30 AM and would like to take a taxi to the site and return to Quang Ngai for supper and overnight. I would like advice about whether this is a workable plan. What are the hours of the memorial? What does entry cost? What about the cost of a taxi from Quang Ngai?
A:
You can even got a bus from quangngai to mylai every 30mins.taxi is about 12-15 USD per round,20minutes . The entrance fee is only 10k dong. Hope you have a good trip.
I want to visit this museum in August or September 2016. My questions are: 1. How can I get there from Ho Chi Minh City? 2. Are tours (English-speaking) around this museum available? If so, what sort of tours? 3. How is the climate in August and September? 4. What hotel(s) would you recommend? I will stay a couple of nights in Quang Ngai.

Hi Mikken. I'm a tour guide then I think I can answer you easily. 1. There's flight from HCM to Quang Ngai (Tan San Nhat airport - Chu Lai airport). Then you need another transfer of 50km to Quang Ngai city. Quang Ngai - My Lai: 9 more km. 2. Around this museum. No tour available. Except there're staffs who just speak Vietnamese and show Vietnamese tourist. 3. Climate: hot and humit. Could be 35-40 degrees C and 90-95% humidity. 4. There're a few hotels there good emough for you like Petro Song Tra hotel or Central Hotel. But bear in mind that this is not a city for tourism then everything is on Vietnamese standard. Now my recommendation: Fly to Danang, stay in Hoian. Buy a tour with guide and car for 7-8 hours with lunch in local restaurant. Hoian - Quang Ngai/Mylai: 120km/2,5 hours transfer. This kind of tour can be easily arranged from any hotel that you stay in Hoian. Have a nice journey and enjoy Vietnam!
